HOBOKEN (Nj.)--- The Delaware Valley field hockey team traveled to Stevens Institute of Technology for a pivotal game in MAC Freedom play, but were unable to generate any offense as they fell to the host Ducks 4-0.
The loss drops the Aggies to 7-8 overall and to 3-4 in MAC Freedom play.
The game remained scoreless for a majority of the first quarter before Stevens struck first with a goal from Gabi Maroney with 1:16 left to take a 1-0 lead into the second quarter.
The hosts tacked on another goal before halftime when Emily Smart scored late in the second quarter to extend the lead to 2-0.
Smart grew the lead to 3-0 in the third and Maroney tallied her second goal in the fourth to finish off the 4-0 shutout.
TJ Smith fired two of the three shots on goal for DelVal who were outshot 22-5 and 14-3 in shots on goal.
The Aggies final game of the season is Wednesday, October 26th on their home turf against DeSales at 7 p.m. DelVal needs to beat the Bulldogs and also have King's lose to Arcadia in order for the Aggies to secure the fifth and final MAC Freedom playoff spot.
