Aggies shutout Penn State Mont Alto in homeopener

DOYELSTOWN (Pa.) – Sophomore Danny Henson led the Delaware Valley University men's soccer team to a dominant 5-0 non-conference victory over Penn State Mont Alto. This was the season-opener for both teams.

 

The Aggies and were dominant on both sides of the ball from start to finish. The Aggies kept the ball in Penn State Mont Alto's territory the whole game. Mont Alto was unable to record a shot on net showcasing just how dominant the Aggies were.

 

DelVal started the pressure right after the kickoff. The Aggies played with an aggressive tempo and were able to capitalize on it early. With 41:15 left on the clock Sophomore Andreas Novak kicked off 2021 with a bang with a shot over the right shoulder of the Penn State Mont Alto goalkeeper from five years out with an assist from freshman Aaron Osborne.

 

With 25:05 left in the first half miscommunication by Penn State Mont Alto goalkeeper and defense allowed Dan Arone to have an open net putting up the Aggies 2-0 before the half.

 

The second half was identical as the first half. Delaware Valley kept the pressure on and at the 29:17 mark when Sophomore Danny Henson threw in the ball to Sophomore Bennett Nordhoff scoring just inside the right post.

 

With 7:48 left to go in the second half Danny Henson made a fantastic across the field pass to Sophomore Chris Wolk who got it pass the diving Penn State Mont Alto goalkeeper from 15 yards out.

 

Freshman Pierce Marks was able to record his first goal with the Aggies with 3:14 left to go. Sophomore Matt Miller was able to find Marks across the field who was able to chip it over the goalkeeper.

 

The Aggies will look to have another strong performance like this when they play at home Saturday, September 4 against Cabrini University at 1:00 p.m.
