DOYLESTOWN (Pa.) – The Delaware Valley University women's soccer team erupted for six second half goals led by a six-point effort from first-year Jess Williamson to blow past visiting City College of New York for a 7-0 home triumph.
The Aggies remain undefeated at 3-0 on the young season while the Beavers fell to 0-3.
DelVal had 12 shots in the first half and four on cage. Williamson got the scoring started in the 16th minute with her first of the night and second of the season. The Aggies held the visitors to three shots and one on target as they went to the break ahead, 1-0.
In the second half, DelVal needed just 45 seconds to get on the board when Rachel Dudek beat the keeper with a shot off her right foot for her first collegiate goal. Less than a minute later, Williamson put one on goal from the right side that the keeper stopped, but rookie Rylee West was there to drive home the rebound for her first career goal and a 3-0 lead.
Williamson assisted on another tally when Vannesa Dohoney nimbly walked around the keeper and deposited one in the open net for her second of the season. Williamson capped her day with the team's seventh goal in the 89th minute. She got behind the defense and beat the keeper one-on-one to seal the victory.
First-year Gill Baker scored her first-career goal on a free kick, then sent a perfect corner into the box where junior Kara Kramer put a perfect head on it and found the back of the net for her first of the year and first as an Aggie.
The seven goals is the most the DelVal women's soccer program has scored since the 2011 campaign. The Aggies will look to make it four-in-a-row on Wednesday night with another home game against Bryn Athyn at 7 p.m.
