#5 Men's Lacrosse Drops Quarterfinals Contest At #4 DeSales

CENTER VALLEY (PA) – The Delaware Valley University Men's Lacrosse team's trip to the postseason came to an end in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom quarterfinals. The fifth-seeded Aggies (5-8, 3-5 MAC Freedom) dropped a 21-8 decision to the fourth-seeded DeSales University (7-4, 5-2 MAC Freedom).

DelVal went toe-to-toe with the 2019 MAC Freedom champions through the first 15 minutes of regulation. After an early goal for the Bulldogs, PJ Rafferty found Dylan Brasch alone in front to knot the score at one a piece with 8:46 to play in the first. Less than a minute later, DeSales regained the one-goal advantage but with 1:05 on the clock it was Brasch who capitalized on a rebound to tie the score once again, 2-2.

Just over two minutes into the second, Brandon Keller put the Aggies ahead by one with his 15th of the year assisted by Matt Waibel, 3-2.

The Bulldogs rattled off eight-straight over the next nine minutes before Brasch completed the hat-trick with his career-best 30th goal of the season with just under four minutes remaining in the first half, 10-4.

DeSales outscored DelVal 3-1 over the remainder of the half with the lone-goal set-up by Ben Napieralski to Rafferty on the man-advantage, 13-5, headed into the break.

The Bulldogs tacked on eight more over the next 18 minutes of play, including seven in the third, to put the game out of reach, 21-5 with 12 minutes left in regulation.

Alex Gundersen, Napieralski, and Keller all scored in the final 5:09 of regulation but it was the home team that came away with the 21-8 victory to advance to the MAC Freedom Semifinals.

For DeSales, Zach Bowen had a game-high 10 goals and 11 points while Matt Motto finished with six goals and nine points.

Defensively, Sean Mylod had a game-high nine groundballs and tied Luke Kelchner for the team-lead with two caused turnovers. Jim Murphy finished the game with 13 saves.
