Softball Drops Two At DeSales

CENTER VALLEY (Pa.) – The Delaware Valley University softball team dropped a pair of contests to host DeSales University in a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom doubleheader on Saturday.

The Bulldogs (5-11, 4-8 MAC Freedom) got a run in every inning in the opener en route to a 9-1 win in six innings. They outhit the Aggies (1-13, 0-12 MAC Freedom), 12-7, in the game and benefited from three DelVal errors.

First-year Alexis Langenfelder and sophomore Anastasia Yocum each went 2-for-3 to lead the Aggies and teamed up for the team's lone run as Yocum drove in Langenfelder with an RBI double in the bottom of the sixth. Lagenfelder went the distance in the circle and recorded three strikeouts and walked a pair.

DeSales got two-run homers from Olivia Ondrejca and Reilly Kerr and leadoff hitter Victoria Agnoli went 4-for-4 with three runs scored.

In the nightcap, the Bulldogs scored three times in the bottom of the first and led, 5-0, after three. DelVal cut the deficit to two with three runs on three DeSales errors in the top of the fourth. Adina Brucie, Megan Torrey, and Madison McClary scored the runs and Alexa Jones picked up an RBI with a sacrifice bunt.

The Aggies got a 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the fourth, but the Bulldogs added three in the fifth and held DelVal at bay to claim an 8-3 victory.

Makenna Cooper and Langenfelder had the lone hits in the game for the Green and Gold and Olivia Monismith struck out five and walked three with eight hits against.

Hailey Muffley went 2-for-2 with two RBI and two runs scored to lead the home team and Megan Burns drove in four runs on two hits.

The two teams will wrap-up the series at a date to-be-announced as Sunday's doubleheader has been postponed due to inclement weather.
