Softball Falls Twice At Lycoming

WILLIAMSPORT (Pa.) – The Delaware Valley University softball team traveled to Williamsport, Pa. to take on Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom newcomer Lycoming College, but came away on the wrong end of a doubleheader sweep.

The Aggies (1-5) got on the board first in the opener as Megan Torrey worked a walk and came around to score on a double by Jessica Stewart. In the bottom of the opening frame, the Warriors (2-2) put up four runs highlighted by a home run to center field by Morgan Wetzel.

Stewart picked up another RBI in the top of the third as she drove home Madison McClary to make it 4-2, but a five-run fourth inning by the home team, and one more in the fifth, secured the 10-2 final.

McClary and Stewart had two hits apiece for DelVal and Olivia Monismith got the start on the mound and had one strikeout. Alexis Langenfelder pitched one inning in relief and allowed three hits and one earned run.

In game two, Lycoming held the Aggies to six hits and no runs through seven innings as Payton Whary earned the shutout and the win with four strikeouts. Langenfelder got the start in the circle for DelVal and went 3.1 innings with two strikeouts and 11 hits surrendered. Caitlyn Pollock closed the game with one hit allowed over two and two-third innings.

Wetzel finished the day with three hits, four RBI, and three runs scored and Morgan Klosko had a five-hit day with a pair of RBI and a run scored.

The two teams will be back at it tomorrow with a doubleheader in Doylestown slated for 1 p.m.
