ST. DAVID'S (Pa.) -- Eastern Unviersity scored early in often on its way to an 18-3 non-conference triumph over the visiting Delaware Valley University men's lacrosse team on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles (1-1) scored the first five goals of the game in 11:52 before Brett Ziegler got the Aggies (1-1) on the board with his first goal of the season late in the first quarter.Â
Eastern scored the next 13 goals and held an 18-1 lead in the fourth. DelVal got two goals from P.J. Rafferty late in the game for the 18-3 final.Â
Brandon Keller and Ben Napieralski each had an assist, Chris Dearden picked up six ground balls, and Sean Mylod had four caused turnovers and four ground balls for the Aggies. Jim Murphy got the start in goal and surrendered 10 goals and Ryley Savering allowed eight in relief.Â
Avery Porter led the Eagles with a six-point day on two goals and four assists and Patrick McClain won 12-of-15 faceoffs. As a team, Eastern won 17-of-25 faceoffs overall and caused 16 turnovers with Chris Durning causing five of them and grabbing eight ground balls. Â
The Aggies will return to home to play Stevens in their Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom opener this Wednesday at 7 p.m.Â
