Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Hoops Drops Second Of Home-And-Home To Lions

READING (Pa.) -- The Delaware Valley University men's basketball team traveled to Reading for the second half of a home-and-home versus Albright College, but it was the home team that ran away with a 70-54 non-conference victory.

The Lions (2-2, 1-1 MAC Commonwealth) opened the game with 12 of the first 18 points over the first 4:39 of play. Thomas Ibidapo hit his second jumper of the game and Matt Paulus followed with his first thee points of the night to bring the Aggies (1-4, 0-2 MAC Freedom) back within one point of the lead, 12-11. DelVal continued to press as they outscored Albright, 6-5, over the next seven minutes of play to knot the game at 17 apiece. The Lions closed the half on a 15-2 run over the final 5:33 and went into the break ahead, 32-19.

Albright remained hot in the second half and opened up the frame with a 11-5 spurt to pull ahead, 43-24. The teams traded baskets before DelVal went on a run, doubling up the Lions 16-8 over a six-minute span, highlighted by a Ryan Black trey and five points from Edward Jones, which made it 56-44 in favor of Albright.

The Aggies remained competitive down the stretch with 10 points over the final five minutes, but it was too little, too late as the Lions walked away with the 70-54 victory.

Albright went 26-for-59 (44.1%) from the field and 16-for-26 (61.5%) from the charity line. The green and gold shot at a clip under 40-percent from the field and the free throw line.

Ibidapo set a career-high with 19 points and nearly registered the double-double with nine rebounds. Paulus was the Aggies second leading scorer with nine points, five boards, and two assists. Nestor Diaz had seven points, two assists, and a board off the bench.

Corey Simmons led the way up front for the Lions with a game high 28 points and 10 rebounds.  Samuel Majekodunmi finished the game with 12 points and nine boards. Albright out rebounded DelVal, 43-29.

The Aggies will hit the road again on Thursday for the first half of a two-game series versus Wilkes University.
