Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Honors Seniors Before Final Game

The Delaware Valley women's soccer team honored their four seniors, Vanessa Dohoney, Chrissy Lambert, Hannah Seltzer and Serena Zilli, prior to their final game of the season against Arcadia. The Aggies fell to the Knights 2-0 while playing through constant rain and wind.

Arcadia (6-12, 3-5) looked to have the game's first goal in the 17th minute, when Caroline Weirich took a shot with Aggie keeper Olivia Sherwood well out of net. Sherwood quickly recovered, sprinted back and made a sliding save as the ball reached the goal line to keep Arcadia off the board.

The Aggies (7-9, 0-8) had their best chance in the 44th minute when Vanessa Dohoney played a ball into the box from near midfield. The ball skipped off the wet turf and Arcadia keeper Gabby Green jumped in the air to punch it over the goal to keep the Aggies off the board and send the game scoreless into halftime.

Sherwood came up big once again early in the second half when the Knights put multiple shots on goal in the 50th minute. Kira Bochard fired a shot from deep in the box, but Sherwood's quick reaction allowed her to make the save. Just 20 seconds later, Riley Ratcliffe got a clean look at a header off a corner, but Sherwood once again made the save to keep the game tied 0-0.

The contest remained scoreless until the 74th minute, when Madison Toyama found Morgan Giordano with a through ball into the box and Giordano netted her first goal of the season to put the Knights ahead 1-0. Arcadia would add an insurance goal in the 88th minute.
