CHALFONT (Pa.) -- The Delaware Valley University women's volleyball team put a bow on the 2021 campaign with a 3-0 setback to Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom front runner DeSales University. The Bulldogs won in three sets with scores fo 25-13, 25-22, and 25-15.
DeSales finished the regular season 17-11 overall and a perfect 8-0 in conference play as they head into the MAC Freedom championship tournament as the top-seed. The Aggies end the season 3-15 overall and 0-8 in league games.
The first game was back-and-forth in the early going until the Bulldogs ripped off seven straight points and went on to score 15 of the final 20 points to win the set. Each team committed just four errors but DeSales had 15 kills to the Aggies seven.
DelVal used a 4-1 run in the second to take an early, 7-5, lead. The Bulldogs countered with a 10-1 stretch to go ahead for good with the 15-8 advantage. The Aggies made only three errors comparted to DeSales' 10 in the second set, but were doubled-up in the kills department, 20-10.
The two teams combined for 13 errors and DelVal only managed six kills in the final set.
Olivia Deffendall led the Aggies with seven kills and two service aces. In their final match at DelVal,
Reilly Green had five kills and seven digs,
Jules Campbell had three kills and three digs, and
Meghan Smith recorded a dig.
