Field Hockey Season Comes To End At Arcadia

GLENSIDE (Pa.) -- The Delaware Valley University field hockey season came to an unceremonious conclusion with a 7-0 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom setback at Arcadia University on Wednesday night.

The Knights (8-10, 5-2 MAC Freedom) earned the fourth seed in the MAC Freedom playoffs with the win while the Aggies finished the 2021 campaign 2-15 overall and 1-6 in league play.

This game was scoreless after the first quarter with Arcadia holding a 3-0 advantage in shots on goal and a 5-2 edge in corner opportunities. DelVal had the only two corner chances in the second quarter, but it was the Knights that broke the game open with three goals on five shots. Morgan Mcentire broke the scoreless tie with a penalty stroke goal early in the stanza and Morganne Dee closed the half with a goal and an assist to give the home team a 3-0 lead at the break.

Arcadia tacked on one in the third and three more in the fourth for the seven-goal margin of victory. Carly Flickinger had two second half goals while Dee, Mcentire and Mickie March each finished with one goal and one assist. Gillian Nardelli and Kyra McKeegan had the lone shots on cage for the Aggies and Alyssa Rudd made eight saves in goal.
