DALLAS (Pa.) -- Host Misericordia University entered the game ranked sixth in all of Division III women's soccer and it scored early and often against visiting Delaware Valley University to earn an 8-0 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom triumph on the day it celebrated its homecoming.
The Cougars improved to 9-1 overall and 1-0 in MAC Freedom play while the Aggies fell to 6-2 and 0-1.
Misericordia needed just 5:30 to get on the board as Kaylee Sturans set up Carly Stoner for her first of the night. Emma Sweitzer potted the next three for the Cougars and they led, 4-0, after 22:18 of play. They tacked on three more in the first half and held DelVal to two shots on goal to take a 7-0 advantage into the break.
The Aggies managed two more shots on goal in the second, and the Cougars got a goal from Nikki Bell in the 79th minute for the 8-0 final. Sweitzer finished with four goals and Michaela Fasolino had three assists.
Olivia Sherwood played all 90 minutes in goal for DelVal and made 13 saves.
