CHAMBERSBURG (Pa.) -- The Delaware Valley University volleyball team traveled to Wilson College for a non-conference match on Saturdsay morning, but came home on the wrong side of a 3-0 decision. The Phoenix won with scores of 25-21, 25-23, and 25-13.
The Aggies (2-12) had 23 kills and 18 errors on 80 attempts in the match compared to 35 kills and 14 errors on 85 attempts for Wilson (4-11).Â
DelVal held a 7-4 lead in the first set before the Phoenix went on an 8-2 run to pull ahead for good. Facing game-point at 24-16, the Aggies rallied for five-straight points but a kill from Tia Jones ended the threat and won the set, 25-21.Â
In the second game, DelVal trailed, 9-5, but went on an 8-3 run to take a one-point lead, 13-12. DelVal continued to fight and got three-straight points later in the set to tie the score at 21-21, but Wilson outscored the visitors 4-2 down the stretch for the 25-23 win.Â
The Phoenix raced out to a 6-0 lead in the third and led by as many as 11 late in the set as it cruised to the 25-13 set win and 3-0 match victory.Â
Olivia Deffendall led DelVal with seven kills and 10 digs while Caitlin Nemil dished out 17 assists.
Reilly Green added six kills and a pair of blocks.Â
