Football Runs Over FDU-Florham On The Road In 61-7 Triumph

DOYLESTOWN (Pa.) – The 7th/9th ranked Delaware Valley University football team scored 61 straight points and shut down host FDU-Florham's offense in a 61-7 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) rout.

COIN TOSS

-        DelVal won the toss and elected to defer. FDU received going right to left.

WHERE THEY STAND

-        The Aggies improved to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in MAC games while the Devils dropped to 4-2 and 3-1.

FIRST QUARTER

-         FDU got the ball first and went for just 5 yards on 3 plays.

-     DelVal ran the ball five times for 53 yards on its opening drive. Donte Simmons got four of the carries and went for 36 yards including a one-yard touchdown to put the Aggies ahead, 7-0, less than five minutes in.

-     Later in the quarter, the Devils were in the red zone and Anthony Caserta tried a pass to the end zone, but Jamir Prevard was there for his fifth interception of the season. He returned the ball to the DelVal 40-yard line and the offense came back on the field.

-     Three plays later, Bohannan found Barksdale over the middle and he ran 40 yards to the FDU 18-yard line. On 3rd-&-goal, Simmons punched in his second one-yard touchdown run of the game. The Aggies led, 14-0, after one quarter.

-     DelVal had 132 yards in the first quarter and held the Devils to 27 yards with zero rushing yards on three attempts.

SECOND QUARTER

-        Midway through the second, facing a 3rd-&-12, Bohannan completed a ball over the middle to John Davis that went for 28 yards to the FDU 25-yard line. A 14-yard completion to Barksdale set up an eight-yard touchdown reception for Isaiah Calhoun in the back of the end zone. Bohannan lofted the ball high and Calhoun came down with it in bounds to put the Aggies ahead, 21-0, with 7:27 left in the half.

-     The Devils ensuing drive went for -1 yard on five plays.

-     DelVal countered with a quick 2-play, 59-yard touchdown strike. Simmons broke off a 23-yard run and, on the next play, Bohannan found Barksdale wide open in the end zone for a 36-yard touchdown reception. The Aggies led, 28-0, with 4:18 on the clock.

-     FDU managed just 3 yards of offense in the second quarter with 12 yards through the air and -9 yards on the ground. DelVal racked up 29 rushing yards and 86 passing yards and led 28-0 at the break.

-     For the half, the Devils were held to 30 yards of total offense.

 THIRD QUARTER

-     On the Aggies second drive of the half, Simmons broke through the line and went 43 yards to the house as no one could catch him. Jack Hughes' fifth PAT of the game made             it 35-0, DelVal, early in the third.

-     FDU had -18 yards of offense through three drives, until a bad snap on a fourth-down punt was picked up by the punter, Ryon Thomas, and returned for 47 yards. Thomas             would have scored if it were not for a hustle play by Ahmad Moore. Moore chased down Thomas and stripped the ball at the one-yard line. The fumble rolled through the             back of the end zone and resulted in a touchback, but the 47 yards went to the box score in the rush column.

-     On the ensuing drive, Julian White broke off a 63-yard run and Bohannan finished it off with a 2-yard touchdown run. The Aggies went 80 yards on 7 plays to take a 41-0             lead into the fourth quarter.

-     DelVal had 150 yards, including 146 yards on the ground in the third. FDU was held to 45 yards including 39 rush yards.

FOURTH QUARTER

-        On the Aggies first drive of the fourth quarter, White got loose again and sprinted 44 yards for his first touchdown of the day and a 47-0 DelVal lead.

-     On the Devils ensuing drive, senior Justin Harris stepped in front of a pass attempt and for his first interception of the year. He returned the pick 48 yards down the sideline and into the end zone for the defensive score and a 54-0 lead.

-     After a 3-play, 5-yard drive from FDU, DelVal went 60 yards on 10 straight run plays. Senior Devon Speid punched in his first career touchdown from two yards out to make it a 61-0 game.

-     On FDU's next play, TJ Brown hit Aidan Clowry over the middle and he sprinted 58 yards to pay dirt to get the Devils on the board. DelVal ran out the remainder of the clock for the 61-7 final.

-     The Aggies had 123 yards of offense in the fourth and the Devils gained 63 yards, all through the air.
