CLERMONT (Fl.) – Marian University hit three home runs and held the Delaware Valley University softball team to just one run to earn a 6-1 victory during the second game of the Aggies third day in Clermont, Florida at The Spring Games.
With two outs in the first inning, Julia Corona sent a three-run shot over the fence in left field to give Marian (6-2) an early lead.
Caitlyn Pollock led the Aggies (0-6) off in the bottom of the first with a single down the right field line and good base running allowed her to come around and score on a catcher's throwing error. DelVal trailed, 3-1, going into the second.
The Sabres added a two-run home run in the second and solo shot in the third to extend their lead to 6-1, and that is all they would need the rest of the way.
DelVal finished the game with four hits, one each from
Sam Demoy,
Megan Torrey, Pollock, and
Anastasia Yocum.
Joanna Kondroski suffered the loss with five earned runs allowed on three hits, two of which were home runs. Pollock pitched the final 5.2 frames and allowed two hits including a solo homerun, but she struck out two and did not walk any batters.
