Women's Basketball Drops Nine-Point Game To Wilkes At Home

DOYLESTOWN (Pa.) – The Delaware Valley university women's basketball team held a three-point lead at halftime, but visiting Wilkes University put together a big third quarter to pull off a 66-57 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom victory on Wednesday night.

The two squads played a back-and-forth first quarter that saw seven lead changes. The Aggies (1-17, 0-7 MAC Freedom) were ahead 12-11 with 4:42 left in the first after Jordan Hyman grabbed an offensive rebound and found Shayne Glenn Cutting to the basket for an easy layup.

The Colonels (8-10, 2-5 MAC Freedom) scored nine of the final 14 points in the first to take a 20-17 lead going into the second.
Glenn got a steal and hit a trey to start the second and tie the game at 20-20 and that sparked a 14-5 run over the first 3:38 of the second quarter that helped the Aggies get out to a 31-25 lead.

Wilkes battled back with an 8-2 run and the game was deadlocked again, 33-33 with 91 ticks left in the half. To close the stanza, junior Camryn Shaw grabbed an offensive rebound and finished the put-back through contact for the and-1 play and a three-point DelVal lead at the break.

The Aggies were 7-for-15 (46.7%) from the field in the second quarter and went 4-for-4 from the charity stripe.
Out of the break, Glenn extended the lead to 38-33 with a fastbreak layup, but the Colonels responded with a 1-0 run over the next four-plus minutes to jump on top, 43-38. Maddie Kelley had seven of the 10 points to highlight the run.

With 2:29 left in the third, Moretti kicked a pass out to the corner where senior Sarah Wills knocked down the jumper to make it 49-45.
Kelley scored five more points in the third and found Macy Berryman for a 3-ball to put the Colonels up, 57-47 going into the fourth. A Brianna Horton trey to start the fourth quarter gave Wilkes its largest lead of the game at 13 points, and it never looked back.

DelVal got to as close as nine as Wills connected again from beyond the arc in the waning seconds for the 66-57 final score.

Glenn led the Aggies with 15 points off the bench and Kutskel recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds to go with three blocks and two steals. Jordan Hyman and Wills each had nine points and Wills pulled down five rebounds. DelVal made exactly one-third of its shots from the field (19-for-57) and from 3-point land (7-for-21).

Kelley finished with 25 points and nine rebounds to lead all scorers and she added two blocks, two steals, and two assists. Berryman followed with 10 points and Gianna Roberts pitched in seven.
