First Half Proves To Be The Difference In Aggies 74-58 Setback At King's

WILKES-BARRE (Pa.) -- The Delaware Valley University men's basketball team was outscored by 16 points in the first half and that proved to be the difference as host King's College came away with the 74-58 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom victory.

The Monarchs (10-7, 3-3 MAC Freedom) started the game with a 7-2 run, but the Aggies (5-11, 1-5 MAC Freedom) scored six straight points to take a one-point lead. Damian Washington had four points on two field goals in the spurt.

From there, King's went on a 20-2 run to open up a 17-point lead that it never relinquished. The Monarchs continued on to lead 36-20 at halftime. The home team went 16-for-37 from the field and 4-for-14 from 3-point land compared to 8-for-22 shooting and an 0-for-5 effort from deep for DelVal.

In the second half, King's scored 16 of the first 32 points to get out to a 52-26 advantage. The lead grew to as many as 27 points with 3:35 left before DelVal went on a 14-3 run to close the game at the 16-point final score.

Jordan Tucker came off the bench to lead the Aggies with 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting and he picked a team-best four steals. Washington followed with 12 points and eight rebounds and Dariel Medina was 4-for-6 for nine points. DelVal finished the game shooting 41.1-percent from the field, but made just 2-of-15 shots from beyond-the-arc.
