Women's Soccer Plays To a 0-0 Draw At Gwynedd Mercy

GWYNEDD VALLEY (PA) – The Delaware Valley University women's soccer team battled Gwynedd Mercy University to a 0-0 draw in a non-conference contest on the road Wednesday night.

The Griffins, who have yet to score a goal this season, moved to 0-4-1 overall while the Aggies move to 1-2-1.

DelVal was in control at the start of the game as it ripped off six shots, earned the only corner kick of the first half, and forced Gwynedd Mercy's goalkeeper, Lauriel Krouse, to make four saves through the first half.

The Griffins came alive in the second half and registered four shots, all on goal, but keeper Hayley Young was up to the challenge. The Aggies pressed hard in overtime, outshooting Gwynedd Mercy 8-1 but could not find the back of the net, resulting in the 0-0 draw.

Young finished the game with six saves for DelVal as her team out-shot the Griffins, 17-6, and had six of the eight corner opportunities in the game. Three of the shots that were counted as off-target rang off the corss bar. Madison Bell and Sarah Young each had good chances and Young led the team with four shots, two of which were on goal. Emily Davis also had two shots on goal.

DelVal returns to action on Saturday, September 14 at home against Drew University at 7 p.m.
