Women's Lax Wraps Up 2019 Campaign With Loss At Misericordia

DALLAS (Pa.) – The Delaware Valley University women's lacrosse team concluded its 2019 campaign at Misericordia University but was upended by the home team, 20-3, in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom finale.

The Cougars finished the regular season 12-5 overall and atop the MAC Freedom standings at 7-0 and will host King's College in the first round of the playoffs. The Aggies finished with the same amount of wins as a season ago, 5-8, and 2-5 in league games.

In this game, DelVal won the opening draw control and sophomore Claire Gamache raced the other way and potted one in the back of the net for an early 1-0 lead.

Misericordia controlled the rest of the half and outscored the Aggies, 14-0, to take a 13 goal lead into halftime.

Gamache started the second half with her second of the day and added another after three more Cougar tallies to make it 17-3 with 8:42 left in regulation. Misericordia scored three more times before the end of the game for the 20-3 final.

Gamache finished with three goals to up her single-season program record to 61 for the year. Amanda McKeegan had a strong game with five draw controls, three ground balls, two caused turnovers, and an assist. Courtney Knight finished with three ground balls and a pair of draw controls. Amanda Dietrich made 15 saves in the game and finished her career with a program best, 575.

The Cougars got goals from 12 different player and Katie Reilly led the way with three of them to go with one assist for four points. Kaila Quinlivan scored a game-high five points on two goals and three assists.
