Softball Blanked In Pair Of Games At Wilkes

EDWARDSVILLE (Pa.) -- The Delaware Valley University softball team was held to just five hits and no runs at Wilkes University in a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom doubleheader on Thursday afternoon.

Jamie Stefani pitched both games for the Aggies (9-23, 3-9 MAC Freedom) and, in the opener, allowed just one run on the first hit of the game. The first batter of the game for the Colonels (21-13, 7-5 MAC Freedom), Gab Giordano, hit a homerun to center field that proved to be the difference in the 1-0 decision. It was the first home run that Stefani has allowed all year and she finished the game with just five hits allowed and five punch outs.

Offensively, DelVal was held to four hits in the game and five base runners. Stefani got aboard three times with two base knocks and a walk while Adina Brucie and Morgan Hawk picked up the other hits.

In the second game, Celine Podlesney allowed just one hit to the Aggies off the bat of Hawk and fanned eight batters in the win. Stefani was 0-for-1 with two walks at the dish, and in the circle she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and two walks with four strike outs. Caitlin Brown led the Colonels with a pair of hits, an RBI, and a run scored.

DelVal will play a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday at Penn State Abington with first pitch slated for 3 p.m.
