ASTON (Pa.) – Host Immaculata University spoiled the debut of new Delaware Valley University baseball head coach
John Love as it scored eight runs in the first two innings en route to a 16-11 victory in the season opener on Wednesday afternoon.
It was the second game of the season for the Mighty Macs (1-1) who jumped on the Aggies (0-1) early with three runs in the first and five more in the second. Richard Fontanillas highlighted the two frame with a single, an RBI triple, and a run scored.

Matt DeLaRosa, and later came around to score on an RBI single from
Troy Lachenmayer. Later in the frame,
Ryan Schuetrumpf doubled down the left field line to score Lachenmayer and make it 8-3 after three.
Immaculata extended its lead to 15-4 after the fifth inning with one run in the third and a pair of three-spots in the next two innings.
The Aggies scored three times in the sixth inning, once in the seventh, and three more times in the ninth while holding the Mighty Macs to one run the rest of the way for the 16-11 final.
Lallis led DelVal at the dish with a 3-for-5 effort including three RBIs and two runs scored. Freshman
Neal Flogel had the highlight of the day with a two-run inside-the-park homerun in the ninth inning, and he finished 1-for-1 with a walk and two runs scored. Lodato finished 2-for-3 with a run scored and
Tom Crooks came on late to contribute a 2-for-2 effort with two runs batted in, a run scored, and a walk.
Joe McGlade suffered the loss after two innings pitched and five earned runs allowed with five walks.
Fontanillas was one of three players with three hits for Immaculata. Center fielder Cameron Delisle was 3-for-4 with two walks, four runs scored, and an RBI. Four different Mighty Mac's finished with two RBIs.
Eight different pitchers took to the mound for the home squad, but starting pitcher Billy Manzo was credited with the win after 2.2 innings pitched, three strikeouts, and two earned runs allowed.
The Aggies are scheduled to play their home opener on Saturday, March 2 with a doubleheader against Clarks Summit University. First pitch is slated for 12 p.m.
