CENTER VALLEY (Pa.) – The Delaware Valley University men's basketball team played in its fourth Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom playoff game in the last four years, but a cold second half led to a disparaging 62-50 defeat at top-seed DeSales University on Thursday night.
The Aggies (12-13, 8-6 MAC Freedom) entered the postseason tournament as the fourth seed while the Bulldogs (19-6, 12-2 MAC Freedom) won the regular season title and the right to host throughout the tournament.
In the first half, DelVal used a 14-3 run capped by a
Lybrant Robinson breakaway dunk to take an 18-7 lead, eight minutes in. Robinson scored six points, had two assists, and a pair of steals in that span.
DeSales went on a 14-5 run over the next 6:42 to get back in the game and make it 23-21 with 5:33 remaining in the half. Sophomore Timmy Edwards had six to highlight the spurt.
The Aggies maintained their advantage through the rest of the first and took a 29-26 lead into the locker room. Robinson had nine points, three rebounds, three steals and two assists to lead DelVal through 20 minutes.
