CHESTERTOWN (Md.) -- The Delaware Valley University women's basketball team traveled to Maryland to take on Washington College in a non-conference game, but came home with a 76-56 setback.
The Aggies (0-3) got a season-high 24 points from junior
Lauren Moretti who led all players in the game and went 5-for-8 from behind the arc. Moretti had 11 points in the first quarter to put DelVal on top after one, 20-19.
The Aggies maintained the lead, 28-27, halfway through the second stanza, but the Shorewomen used a 9-0 run to take the lead and go up, 35-31, at the break. DelVal trailed by seven at the midpoint of the third before freshman
Shayne Glenn hit a trey to make it a 43-39 game. Washington scored 15 of the final 18 points in the third to take a 12-point advantage into the fourth.
Freshman
Jordan Hyman scored five points in the fourth, but it wasn't enough. Morettie added six rebounds to her totals, and Glenn finished with a team-high 10 boards to go with seven points and three assists. Hyman finished with six points and two steals, and
Camryn Shaw grabbed five rebounds with four points.
