DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Visiting Marywood University outscored the Delaware Valley University women's basketball team 45-17 in the first half en route to a 65-46 non-conference victory.
The Pacers picked up their first win of the season, improving to 1-2 overall while the Aggies dropped to 0-3.
Marywood got out to an early 20-7 lead as it shot over 60-percent (11-of-18) from the field in the first quarter. DelVal did manage to piece together a 6-3 run the rest of the way, thanks to consecutive buckets by junior
Camryn Shaw off a steal by
Lauren Moretti and and an assist from
Sarah Wills. That made it a, 23-13, heading into the second quarter.
The Aggies shooting woes continued into the second quarter as they were outscored 20-4 and trailed 45-17 at the half.
DelVal came out in the third quarter and went on an 11-0 run as four different players scored including
Emily Kutskel with four points to cut the deficit to, 45-28. The Aggies got as close as 15 points of the lead, but still trailed, 50-32, going into the fourth. DelVal outscored Marywood, 15-6, in the third.
The Aggies outscored the Pacers 14-13 in the fourth, as they forced Marywood into several fouls and converted at the line. Eight of DelVal's 14 points in the final frame were from the charity stripe, but the early hole proved to be too much for DelVal to overcome as the Pacers came away with the 64-46 victory.
Aryah Aungst led Marywood with 25 points including 6-7 shooting from beyond the arc, and added eight rebounds, three steals, two assists and one block. Olivia Kosin led all players in the game with 10 boards to go with three points, two assists and one steal. Glenn finished the game with five boards, two assists and a steal.
Moretti led the Aggies with 12 points and added six rebounds and three steals.
Emily Kutskel and Glenn each finished with 10 points. Kutskel came close to a double-double as she led the Aggies with eight rebounds and an impressive six blocks to go with one steal and one assist. Shaw also had an efficient game going 3-for-5 from the field for six points, with six rebounds, two steals and an assist.
DelVal will play it's next five games on the road and will return home on Wednesday, December 11 to host Penn State Berks for a 6 p.m. tip.
