DOYLESTOWN (Pa.) -- The Delaware Valley University volleyball team concluded its 2019 campaign with a home match against Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom front runner Stevens Tech, but came out on the wrong side of the 3-0 final. Set scores were 25-17, 25-17, and 25-12.
The Aggies finish the season 7-17 overall and 0-7 in league play while the Ducks moved to 16-11 and a perfect 7-0.
DelVal had 17 kills in the match and 15 errors to Stevens' 38 and 16.
The Aggies trailed 4-1 in the first set but came back to tie the game at 5-5 and again at 7-7. The Ducks countered with a 6-1 run to open up a five-point lead and they never looked back. In the second set, DelVal trailed by just two midway through at 14-12 before Stevens went on a 10-2 run to force game-point. The Aggies scored three straight points to get to 17 before the visitors closed the game, 25-17.
DelVal got its first lead of the match early in the third thanks to a pair of errors by the Ducks' setter that made it 2-1. Stevens then ran off five-straight points to take the lead for good en route to the 25-12 win and match victory.
Krista HIller led DelVal with eight kills and four players finished with two.
Caitlin Nemil dished out 13 assists and recorded 11 digs while
Jess Ellick paced the team with 19 digs and
Tara Moffa contributed 10.
Reilly Green had two kills and two solo blocks.
