MADISON (NJ) – The Delaware Valley University women's soccer team battled FDU-Florham for 61 scoreless minutes, until the home team found the back of the net twice in less than ten minutes, en route to a 2-0 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom win.
The Aggies (1-12-1, 0-5-0 MAC Freedom) were outmatched, 5-1, in shots on goal but managed to keep the Devils (11-5-1, 1-4-0 MAC) off the board through 45 minutes of play.
Sixteen minutes into the second half, Erika Pita scored for FDU-Florham on breakaway which was assisted by Amanda Croce. Madeline Finnegan added a goal off of a rebound to make it 2-0 in the 68
th minute.
Calla Gibson was the only player for DelVal to record a shot, which she put on goal in the first half. The Devils finished the game with 27 shots attempted, 11 on goal. FDU-Florham also had six of the game's seven corner opportunities. Brooke Turnbaugh played admirably in net making nine saves.
The Aggies will return home Saturday, October 26, as they play host to MAC Freedom foe Stevens University at 7 p.m.
