DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The Delaware Valley University women's soccer team hosted Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom foe Eastern University on Tuesday night, but dropped a 1-0 decision.
The Aggies fell to 1-10-1 overall and 0-3 in league play while the Eagles improved their record to 7-5-1, and 2-0-1, on the year.
Senior
Brooke Turnbaugh made her first career start in goal for the depleted DelVal squad, and she made four saves in the first half. The Aggies' offense got off three shots in a flurry of attack, including two that were on target, but could not cash in as the game continued into the second half, 0-0.
Eastern earned five corner opportunities in the second half, but it was not a set piece that did DelVal in. The game remained scoreless until the 68
th minute when Zoe Galvin let a shot go from distance and it sailed into the upper right corner of the net for what would ultimately be the game winner. Nicole Weenink was credited with the assist.
The Aggies had two shots in the second, both on goal, but Eagles keeper Kerry Phillips was equal to the task. She finished with four saves while Turnbaugh turned away seven.
DelVal will take to the road for its next two MAC Freedom games beginning at Misericordia on Saturday at 7 p.m.
