MADISON (NJ) –
Ben Lippincott earned a complete-game victory and
Tom Crooks went 3-for-4 with two RBIs to lead Delaware Valley University to an 8-3 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom victory at FDU-Florham on Saturday.
The win helped the Aggies to 6-8 overall and 1-2 in league games while the Devils fell to 6-12 and 1-5. The two teams will meet for a doubleheader matinee at 12 p.m. tomorrow afternoon in Doylestown to conclude the series.
DelVal got on the board in the first inning when
Sammy Amos worked a bases loaded walked to score
Brad Duckworth to make it 1-0. The Aggies doubled their lead in the third inning as
Luke Hendricks came in to score on a wild pitch.
With one run already on the board in the fourth and the bases loaded, Crooks singled home
Michael Milazzo and
Brad Duckworth to make it 5-0. Hendricks then crossed the plate after an error to make it 6-0 after four.
FDU did not get on the board until the sixth inning when Joseph Bonaccorso's fielder's choice scored Reynaldo Diaz. Bonaccorso later came around to score to make it 8-2, but Lippincott was in control the rest of the way.
The senior allowed just three earned runs and three walks while also striking out three to earn his third win of the season. Offensively, Amos and Crooks picked up the only RBIs and Hendricks had a pair of hits with three runs scored.
Timmy Lallis also picked up a base knock and a run scored.
For the Devils, Brad Norris went six innings allowing eight runs, one earned, on six hits, five strikeouts and three walks. Ian Havran led the offense with a 3-for-5 effort and a run scored while Bonaccorso and Christopher Franco earned the RBIs. Seven FDU players in total had hits on the day.
