DelVal Men's Basketball Loses Battle At Misericordia, 65-57

DALLAS (PA) – The Delaware Valley University men's basketball game battled Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom foe Misericordia University to 17 lead changes and five ties, but ultimately dropped the road contest, 65-57.

The Cougars maintained the third spot in the conference with a 7-3 league mark (12-9 overall) while the Aggies fell to 2-8 and 4-17.

DelVal led by as many as six at 12-6, seven minutes into the game and at the halfway mark of the first half, it was leading 14-11. The Aggies led by as many as nine in the frame after Lybrant Robinson hit a trey to make it 22-15 with 7:11 still left before the break.

Later in the half, Misericordia put together a 6-0 run to take its first lead of the game at 25-24 with under five minutes to go. The run extended to 13-5 as the Cougars didn't trail the rest of the half and led 35-33 at halftime.
The Aggies regained the lead at 38-37 when Andre' Butler found Ryan Naccarato inside for a layup just 2:49 into the second half.  

From there it was back and forth, with seven lead changes and three ties including at deadlock at 51-51 after a Butler layup with 8:33 left in regulation.

Then the Cougars got consecutive layups from Jason Kenny and Tre' Fields to go ahead by four and went on to score 14 of the final 20 points in the game to hold on for the 65-57 final.

???????DelVal shot just 19-for-64 (29.7%) from the field and 2-for-18 (11.1%) from 3-point land. Robinson scored a team-high 15 points and added six rebounds and three steals. Alex Matsinye and Damian Washington each had 12 points and combined for 11 boards while Butler finished with a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds.

???????Misericordia shot 22-for-59 (37.3%) from the field and 4-for-24 (16.7%) from three for the game. Jason Kenny posted a game-high 17 points to go with five rebounds and two assists while Tyrell Mann finished with 12 points. Noah Rivera matched Butlers double-double by posting 11 points and 10 boards. Fields finished with eight points and eight rebounds and Tony Harding had nine points.

The Aggies will resume MAC Freedom play when it hosts Manhattanville College on Wednesday, February 7 at 8 p.m.
