Men's Soccer Honors Seniors Before Game With Rival DeSales

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The Delaware Valley University men's soccer team celebrated its seniors in its final game of the season on Saturday evening, but it was visiting DeSales University that came away with the 4-0 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom victory.

The Aggies wrapped up the season at 3-15 overall and winless in seven conference games. They honored their six seniors, Evan Augsburger, Sam DiBella, Ryan Mancini, Patrick McCarthy, Nick Miller, and Giovanni Million with a special ceremony before the game to recognize all of their hard work and dedication to the program. Combined, the six student-athletes have provide 30 goals, 23 assists, 53 points and 11 MAC Fall Academic Honor Rolls.

The Bulldogs, who were conference champions a year ago, finished the season 2-5 in league play, and 7-9-1 overall, and will not qualify for the conference tournament this season.
In the first half of tonight's contest, DeSales scored in the 19th minute after a hard shot by Michael Kirby was stopped by the DelVal keeper, but the rebound fell right to the feet of Kevin Kile who deposited into the net for the 1-0 lead. The Aggies were outshot 11-4 in the stanza, but still trailed by only one at the break.

Kirby started the scoring in the second half by converting a penalty kick in the 53rd minute after being dragged down in the box. Zach Reichard tacked on two goals in the final two minutes of regulation for the 4-0 final. Max Cortina earned an assist on Reichard's second tally.

Miller, a senior, led DelVal with four shots, three on target, and Josh Jarrett made 11 saves in goal.

For the Bulldogs, TJ Corcoran made five saves while Kirby and Reichard led the offensive attack with seven shots apiece.
