Women's Soccer Honors Seniors, Falls To DeSales

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The Delaware Valley University women's soccer team celebrated its seniors in its final game of the season, but it was visiting DeSales University that scored four goals in the first half to secure a 5-0 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom victory.

The Aggies finished the season 4-12 overall and 1-6 in league games. They honored their six seniors, Taylor Boyer, Tessa Coleman, Samantha Greim, Christiana Millili, Juls Previte and Jennifer Wood with a special ceremony before the game to recogonize all of their hard work and dedication to the program.

The Bulldogs closed their season with an 8-7-2 overall record and secured the third seed in the MAC Freedom playoffs with a 5-2 mark.

DeSales got on the board in the 14th minute of the game when Rachel Medlar laced a shot from way out into the top right corner. Sam Riccardi then scored two goals in a span of 5:32 to extend the lead to 3-0. Late in the stanza, the Bulldogs benefited from an own goal by a DelVal defender to take a four-goal lead into the break.

The Aggies applied pressure in the second half with seven shots, three on goal, including a late opportunity that rang off the crossbar, but stayed out of the net.

DeSales tacked on a late goal by Sydney Amato for the 5-0 final. Natalie Dorsheimer assisted on the team's first goal and Gabby Rojas earned a helper on the second to round out the scoring.

Coleman, a senior, led the Aggies with two shots and one on goal and fellow classmate Greim rang the crossbar late in regulation. Haley Young played into the 78th minute in goal and made four saves before Maddy Medina came on in relief and made one save with one goal against.
