CHESTER (PA) – The Delaware Valley University volleyball team competed at the Widener University tri-match on Saturday afternoon, but dropped a pair of 3-0 decisions to Widener and Goucher College.
The Aggies (4-17) fell to the Pride (14-15) by scores of 25-11, 25-12, and 25-10. The Gophers (11-14) used set scores of 25-9, 25-15, and 25-13 to move passed DelVal.
Danielle McKelvey led the Aggies with six kills against Widener while
Kayla Bracken and
Kourtney Campbell added three each.
Taylor Purner had a team-best 11 assists and
Alexis Sideris notched five digs.
The Pride had 11 aces in the match including four from Maddie Keller and the team had 35 kills led by nine from Nicole Dorman. Keller (12) and Sydney Nichols (17) each reached double-digit assists.
The Gophers also had success from the service line against DelVal as they recorded 15 aces as a team. Virginia Estes, Kaya Melchor, and Emily Sorrells had three aces apiece. Tes DeJaeger led all players in the match with 27 assists while Melcor and Greta Coss paced the team with 11 kills each.
For the Aggies, Bracken had a team-high four kills and McKelvey served a pair of aces. The duo also had six digs apiece, but it was
Tara Moffa that led the squad in that department with 11. McKelvey was the primary setter and dished out 10 helpers.
DelVal has just one match remaining in the 2018 campaign as it will head to Manhattanville College for a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom tilt against the Valiants at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
