GWYNEDD VALLEY (PA) – Gwynedd Mercy University scored both of its goals in the second half as the Griffins registered a 2-0, home victory over non-conference foe Delaware Valley University.
 
Gwynedd Mercy improved to 1-2 while the Aggies fell to 0-2.
 
The two teams combined for just four shots in the opening 45 minutes of the contest. Then, just under 13 minutes into the second half, Meghan Petroski headed in a Victoria Braeunle pass to give Gwynedd Mercy a 1-0 lead. Braeunle added an insurance tally with 15:21 remaining.
 
DelVal was edged, 9-8 in shots, and had five of the game's 17 corner kicks. Freshman Haley Young was credited with three saves in net.
 
The Aggies will head to the Arcadia University Tournament this weekend. They will open against Muhlenberg College on Saturday, September 9 (4 p.m.) and then battle Penn State Abington exactly 24 hours later on Sunday.
