ABINGTON (PA) – Shayna Rodriguez notched a near triple-double to lead host Penn State Abington to a 76-67 victory over Delaware Valley University in a non-conference match-up on Saturday afternoon.
The Lions improved their record to 5-1 overall while the Aggies fell to 2-5 on the year.
The first quarter of this one was back-and-forth with eight lead changes. The largest of which came after consecutive three's from
Sarah Wills and

The Lions continued their run into the second quarter, as Rodriguez scored six straight points to the Aggies two to make it a 29-25 contest. The teams traded baskets before Smink hit a layup in the paint followed by a deep trey to put DelVal back on top by one.
Once again the teams went back-and-forth before the Aggies closed the half on a 5-0 run thanks to a 3-pointer from
Lauren Moretti and a buzzer-beating layup by
Morgan Mitchell to make it a 41-37 game at the break.
DelVal went on to score the first four points of the second half to take its largest lead of the game at eight, 45-37. It would not trail the entirety of the third quarter as the Aggies held a two point advantage, 56-54, going into the fourth.
The team traded baskets again to start the final stanza and eventually played to a 60-60 tie with 6:39 left in regulation.
From there, Penn State used a 13-2 run over the next 5:22 to pull away from the Aggies and take a 73-62 lead with just 67 second on the clock. Five different players scored in the stretch, led by five points from Iman Richmond.
DelVal got as close as seven down the stretch, but the Lions held on for the 76-67 victory.
