DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The Delaware Valley University women's basketball team exploded for 104 points and a 104-42 rout of Goucher College in front of the home crowd.
The Aggies improved to 2-4 overall while the Gophers remained winless at 0-6.
DelVal led 9-3 early in the game before Goucher's Nailah Jones scored six straight points to tie the game at nine apiece with 6:40 left in the first quarter.
From there, it was all Aggies as they scored the next eight points and led 27-16 after the opening stanza. The squad hit five treys in the quarter and earned seven fast break points.
The second was much of the same as DelVal locked down on defense and outscored the Gophers 30-4 in the 10-minute period. It began with three consecutive 3-pointers, two from
Ashley Smink and one from
Sarah Wills.
Lauren Moretti followed with a layup and a trey of her own.
Danielle Skedzielewski got into the mix next with seven straight points including a three.
All 10 Aggies that dressed for the game saw minutes in the first half and contributed on the score sheet, led by Smink's 16 points on 4-of-5 shooting from beyond the arc.
After three quarters of play, DelVal held an 83-36 lead, but its largest lead of the game came late in the waning minutes of the fourth quarter when the game was all but over at 104-40.
By the end of the contest, every Aggie player that dressed accumulated at least four points and two rebounds. Smink and Moretti had 19 apiece to lead the way with Smink also recording seven assists.
Camryn Shaw came off the bench to grab a game-high 10 boards.
Monika Smallwood finished with 11 points and seven rebounds and Wills scored 16 points and added seven assists and six rebounds.
Morgan Mitchell finished with nine points and
Amber Grohowski and Skedzielewski had eight and seven points respectively.
Olivia Gorman scored five points and
Destinni Myrick had four points.
Goucher was led by 14 points and nine rebounds from Nicole Wolard and Mya Lewis finished with nine points.
DelVal will look to make it two straight when it travels to Penn State Abington on Saturday, December 2 (1 p.m.).
