Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

DelVal Women's Soccer Drops 3-1 Home Contest To Goucher

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The Delaware Valley University women's soccer team scored the first goal of the game, but could not hold on as visiting Goucher College netted three unanswered tallies to escape with the 3-1 non-conference win.

The Aggies fell to 2-8-1 on the year while the Gophers improved to 5-4-2.

DelVal started the scoring late in the first stanza when Kylie Williams crossed a ball into the box from the near side and Calla Gibson converted a half volley from eight yards out with just five minutes left in the half to make it 1-0.

The lead was short lived as Goucher responded exactly one minute later with a strike by Bri Hite from the top of the 18 that curled inside the far post to make it a 1-1 game into the break.

The Gophers broke the tie 15:09 into the second half when Theresa Antkowiak-Tassone beat an Aggie defender down the right side line and was in all alone. She beat the keeper from 10 yards out for the 2-1 lead, and ultimately, the game winner.

Antkowiak-Tassone added another late goal with a long shot that was just out of the reach of the keeper to seal the 3-1 road victory for Goucher. Kaylie Derrickson was credited with the assist.

Haley Young made three saves in goal for DelVal and Gibson had three of the team's seven shots, including two of the four shots on goal.

The Gophers registered seven shots on goal including three off the foot of Antkowiak-Tassone while Christina Charikofsky made three saves in net.

The Aggies will resume Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom play when the host Eastern University on Saturday, October 7 at 12 p.m.
