DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley University concluded the non-conference portion of its schedule, and fell to host Rutgers – Camden, 3-0, on Thursday night. Set scores were 25-11, 25-20 and 25-14.
The Aggies are now 3-12 overall while the Scarlet Raptors improved to 14-12 on the year.
Rutgers – Camden jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the first set, before DelVal senior
Taylor Klecan took the service line and helped the Aggies to four straight points to pull within one. The Aggies could not get any closer as the Scarlet Raptors extended the lead to 15-10 before ripping off eight straight points to take set one.
In the second, DelVal held leads of 12-10 and 13-12 after kills from Klecan and
Danielle McKelvey, respectively. From there, Rutgers – Camden went on a 6-0 run to pull ahead 18-13. Then with the Aggies trailing 22-18
Alexis Sideris got a kill to cut the deficit to three, but it was the Scarlet Raptors who scored four of the game's final five points to take a two set to none lead.
In the third set, Sideris put DelVal on top, 2-1, early but it was the last lead the Aggies would have of the night as Rutgers – Camden cruised to the three games to none victory.
The Scarlet Raptors had 15 service aces on the night to DelVal's one and held a 35-19 advantage in kills.
Kate Woolsey led the Aggies with six kills and McKelvey paced the team in digs (16) and assists (13).
DelVal will wrap up its 2017 campaign on the road at Eastern University next Wednesday, October 25 at 7 p.m.
