DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Manhattanville College recorded 20 service aces, en route to a 3-0 victory over host Delaware Valley University in a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom match. Set scores were 25-13, 25-11 and 25-7.
The Valiants improved to 11-6 overall and 3-2 in league play while the Aggies dropped to 3-9 and 0-5.
Manhattanville never trailed in the match. DelVal pulled to within one, 9-8, in the first set before a 10-4 run by the Valiants put it away. Manhattanville then opened the second and third sets with 8-0 runs. They ended the match with back-to-back aces by Monica Lopez.
Kerry Mackey had seven kills to become the Valiants' all-time leader in the category. Meagan Dattoma also had seven kills to go with eight digs and six service aces. Lopez finished with 16 digs and four aces while Kelsha Schutte had 21 assists, six digs and three blocks.
For DelVal,
Kayla Bracken notched seven of the team's 14 kills and she also added six digs.
Kate Woolsey had three kills and a team-high 11 digs while Jess Holster added nine digs.
Danielle McKelvey finished with nine digs and 10 assists.
The Aggies return to action on Thursday, October 12 (7 p.m.) when they travel to Cairn University for a non-conference match.
