Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley University had its first home volleyball match in two weeks and the Aggies dropped a 3-0, non-conference decision to Maritime College. Set scores were 25-16, 25-11 and 25-22.
The win improved the Privateers to an even 7-7 while DelVal fell to 1-7.
Maritime led 19-11 in the first set before the Aggies won five straight. However, the Privateers finished the set with six consecutive points. The second set was all Maritime, including four straight service aces by Carly Lombardo.
The Privateers took an early lead in the third set and were up five, 22-17, when DelVal scored four points in a row. The teams exchanged points before a pair of Aggie hitting errors gave Maritime the set and the match.
Lombardo finished with eight kills, eight digs and four aces for the victors. Meredith Hayes added seven kills while Shannon Brady notched six kills and 20 digs. Erika Bailey dished out 19 assists.
For DelVal,
Kayla Bracken had 10 kills as well as eight digs.
Jess Holster led the defensive effort with 10 digs while
Nicole Daigneault added 12 assists, seven digs and two aces.
Kourtney Campbell had a strong serving night with four aces.
The Aggies are home again on Wednesday, September 30 when they host Wilkes University for a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom match.
