DELVAL MEN SUFFER 73-67 LOSS AT BRYN ATHYN

Box Score BRYN ATHYN (PA) – Troy Steed scored 19 of his 28 points in the second half as Bryn Athyn College rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit and upset visiting Delaware Valley College, 73-67, in a non-conference game.

The Aggies, a NCAA qualifier who were coming off wins in four of their last five games including the first two Freedom Conference contests, fell to 5-3 overall. Meanwhile, the Lions, who are in their inaugural season, won their second straight game and improved to 2-5.

Delaware Valley looked to be in control in the first half as a Nick Sullivan 3-pointer in the closing seconds gave the Aggies a 38-28 lead. The team shot 16 of 30 shots (53.3%) from the field, including 5-for-11 (45.5%) from 3-point land.

However, the second half was a different story as Bryn Athyn missed just six of its 20 attempts from the field for a 70 percent shooting performance while Delaware Valley cooled off to 32.1 percent. The Lions were also 16-for-23 from the foul line compared to 7-for-10 for the Aggies.

Bryn Athyn scored the first eight points of the second half and eventually took its first lead at 44-43. The teams then traded leads with the Aggies taking their last one at 50-49 after Francis Arnold hit a layup with 11:41 remaining.

The Lions hit with back-to-back three-point plays by Christian Rivera and Adonis Rosario to go up for good. The lead went up to as many as eight before Delaware Valley pulled back to within two, 62-60 after a three-point play by Arnold with 4:17 to go. Bryn Athyn responded with consecutive baskets and a six-point lead. The Aggies made it a one-possession game twice, the last coming at 70-67 with 1:45. They even got the ball back with a chance to tie, but Arnold missed a trey and Bryn Athyn added three free throws to finish off the win.

Steed was 12-for-18 from the field (2-for-2 from 3-point land), including a perfect 8-for-8 in the second half. He also added seven rebounds. Rivera had 16 points while Rosario and Deion Boyer chipped in with 11 apiece.

Arnold came off the bench and notched 25 points (16 in the second half), six rebounds and five steals in the loss. Sullivan picked up the start for Arnold and hit five treys, en route to a 19-point effort.
