CAMDEN (NJ) – Delaware Valley College placed four players in double figures, including 14 points apiece from
Darryl White and
James Jones, as it defeated Rutgers University-Camden, 79-67, in a non-conference game Monday night.
The Aggies snapped a two-game losing streak and evened their record at 9-9, while the Scarlet Raptors dropped to 5-14 with their fifth straight loss.
After the Scarlet Raptors scored the first two points of the game, the Aggies went on an 11-0 run to take the lead for good. White collected five of those points while freshman
Jeremy Beckett added four.
By halftime, White had 11 points and Beckett added eight as Delaware Valley shot 60.7 percent from the field (17-for-28) and took a 46-32 advantage into the break. The Aggies opened leads as large as 21 points on two occasions in the second half (64-43 and 76-55) on their way to the 12 point victory. They finished the game shooting 51 percent from the field (26-for-51) and held a 46-33 advantage on the boards.
White added six rebounds and four blocks to his 14 points while Jones added six boards, four assists and three steals. Beckett tallied a double-double with 13 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
Brian Hilinski came off the bench and was 4-for-5 from the field, including 3-for-4 from 3-point land, as he finished with 11 points and eight rebounds.
Eric Goode paced Rutgers-Camden with a career-high 13 points, including 10 in the second half while Joshua Askew added 11 points. Kevin Brown collected 10 points and seven rebounds in the loss.
