ELIZABETHTOWN (PA) – The College of New Jersey placed 11 players in the scoring column as the Lions downed Delaware Valley College, 65-55, in the first day of the 2010 R1 Sports Blue Jay Classic at Elizabethtown College
The Aggies saw their record fall to 4-5 on the season and they take on the host school, a 94-57 victor over Wilkes University on Saturday (3:00 p.m.). Wilkes is in the same conference as Delaware Valley and thus the two will not face each other this weekend.
TCNJ (3-4) led by 10, 37-27, at the intermission and upped the advantage to as many as 22 in the second half. Twelve members of the roster saw at least six minutes of action with Hanna Tait leading a balanced attack with 11 points and seven rebounds. Alexandra Gregorek added 10 points, five rebounds and four assists.
Emily Soper paced the Aggies with 15 points on 7-for-10 shooting, but she missed most of the second half with an injury.
Brittany Battinieri notched 11 points while
Sarah Innerst added seven.
Jackie Shunkwiler finished with six points and a team-best 11 rebounds.
