AGGIES FALL ON THE ROAD TO MISERICORDIA, 76-67

DALLAS (PA) – Misericordia University used a 10-2 run near the midway point of the second half to take the lead for good as the Cougars downed visiting Delaware Valley College, 76-67, in a Freedom Conference game.

The game was a 29-29 tie at the intermission and it was deadlocked again at 38-38 after the Aggies' James Jones drained a trey with 13:36 remaining. However, five different players scored for the Cougars (8-8, 2-5 Freedom) during its spurt as they took a 48-40 advantage with 10:37 to go.

The lead went up to as many as nine, but Delaware Valley (4-10, 2-6) fought back to within five on five separate occasions, the last coming at 64-59 after Jones hit a pair of free throws with 2:52 remaining. Misericordia responded with six straight points, including four by Dom Del Prete, to put the contest away.

The Cougars, who were an impressive 29-for-34 from the foul line (the Aggies reached the charity stripe just 18 times and converted 15), were led by Vinny Baumunk's 21 points. Del Prete finished with 13 points as did Robbie Johnson.

Jones notched a game-high 25 points while Jason Goldheimer was the only other Delaware Valley player to reach double figures as he came off the bench to contribute 11 points.
