AGGIES FALL TO FIORINO, KING'S 75-66

WILKES-BARRE (PA) – Kaitlyn Fiorino scored a career-high 35 points to lead King's College to a 75-66 victory over visiting Delaware Valley College in a Freedom Conference game.

The win improved the Lady Monarchs to 5-8 overall and 3-2 in the league. The Aggies, who were playing their second straight Freedom game on the road, fell to 6-5 and 2-2. They will host a trio of conference games next week, beginning with a Monday match-up with Wilkes University.

Fiorino scored 13 of her team's first 20 points, but Delaware Valley held a two-point advantage after a pair of free throws by Jess Ruvolis with 4:03 remaining. Fiorino then hit back-to-back treys to ignite a 12-0 King's run to end the half and give the Lady Monarchs a 32-22 lead.

The Aggies pulled to within six, 41-35, as Kim Vennera connected from beyond the arc with 13:27 remaining. However, King's responded with 10 straight points and its largest lead of the game. The teams then exchanged baskets before Delaware Valley went on a 12-2 run – seven by Jackie Shunkwiler and five by Vennera to make it a 55-49 contest with 6:31 remaining. The Lady Monarchs then scored six straight points to put their lead back into double figures and the Aggies never got closer than eight the rest of the way.

Fiorino was 11-for-27 from the field, including a 7-for-13 performance from 3-point land. The senior also hit six of eight attempts from the foul line and pulled down five rebounds. Paige Carlin added 11 points and 10 boards.

Vennera finished with 21 points and seven boards in the loss. Shunkwiler posted a double-double as the freshman forward had career highs of 17 points and 12 rebounds. She also blocked a season-high five shots.
