DELVAL ENDS THREE-GAME SKID WITH 70-66 WIN AT ARCADIA

GLENSIDE (PA) – James Jones scored a career-high 24 points to lift Delaware Valley College to a 70-66 victory at Arcadia University in a non-conference game.

The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Aggies as they improved to 2-4. The Knights, who moved over to the Commonwealth Conference after a one-year stay in the Freedomn, fell to 3-5.

Jones, a sophomore transfer guard from Widener University, was a perfect 8-for-8 at the foul line, en route to the career-high scoring performance. He also added five rebounds and three assists in 38 minutes of action

Delaware Valley led throughout most of the contest, including a 33-31 advantage at halftime. The Aggies could never pull away from the home squad and Arcadia made it a three-point game at 51-48 with 9:54 remaining. Delaware Valley responded with seven straight as Jones hit a jumper, Jon Evans nailed a trey and Mike Williams followed with a jumper to make it 58-48 with 7:56 left on the clock.

It was still a 10-point game at 64-54 when the Knights went on a 9-2 run to pull to within three, 66-63, with 48 seconds to go. Jason Seipt was fouled with 32 ticks remaining and the senior point guard calmly hit both free throws to up the Aggie lead to five. Arcadia missed a pair of 3-point attempts and Jones sealed the game for Delaware Valley by swishing two foul shots with seven seconds left.

Seipt finished with 11 points, three rebounds and two assists while Jason Goldheimer and Mike Williams added eight points apiece. Evans, a freshman, came off the bench to notch eight points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Bobby Mulholland paced the Knights with 17 points while Darrell Mills and Terrell Varnado hit double digits with 14 and 12 points apiece.
