Karns won his third NCAA reginoal crowned and earned a berth to the NCAA Division III Championships for a fourth time as he led the Delaware Valley wrestling team to the East Regional Championship crown.  Karns began the day ranked first in a field of 17 wrestlers in the 197-pound weight bracket and won four matches on the day to punch his ticket to national's.  In his first match he pinned Joe Ragsdale (Centenary) in 1:22 and then used a 4-0 decision to get past No.8 Eric Bash (Wilkes). In his last two matches he surrendered just one point as he defeated No.5 Nathaniel Leer (TCNJ) by major decision, 13-1, before beating No.3 Ricky Fisher (Merchant Marine) 8-0 in the finals.
