Bob Altieri

A 1992 graduate of Delaware Valley University and a member of its Athletic Hall of Fame, Altieri served as head baseball coach for 19 years before retiring after the 2018 season. He continues to hold the role of equipment manager in the gymnasium.

Altieri produced a program-record 333 wins and seven trips to the postseason during his tenure. He  was promoted to head coach in 2000 following a six-year stint as an assistant. Despite losing the team's top three pitchers to graduation in '99, Altieri directed the Aggies to a 23-16 record and earned trips to both the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) playoffs. He was named the MAC Freedom Coach of the Year for his efforts.

The 2001 edition of the Aggies compiled the best 17-game start in program history with a 15-2 mark and right fielder Tony DeLude was named the conference's Most Valuable Player. DeLude repeated as conference MVP in 2002 and Rich Bayachek was named the Pitcher of the Year as the team won 24 games, reached the conference championship game and was selected for the ECAC playoffs.

In 2003, DelVal qualified for the Freedom Conference playoffs and had the conference MVP for the fifth time in the last six years as first baseman Mark Roth earned the accolade. Roth was later named a second team All-American.

The Aggies took first place honors in the Freedom Conference during the regular season and was selected to host the ECAC South Region Championships in 2004. The team won both ECAC contests to capture the title - the second in program history - and finish 27-13. Left fielder Brandon McCabe was named a third team All-American after the season.

In 2008, the Aggies were picked to finish last in the preseason conference coaches' poll. Instead, Altieri and his squad went 25-18, qualified for the Freedom Conference playoffs and reached the ECAC South Region Championship Game. They followed the next year with a 21-13 record and another berth in the ECAC playoffs.

In 2014, the team produced three all-conference players and the Freedom Rookie of the Year in Kyle Wenger. Wenger was also named to a pair of first-team all-region squads as he placed in the top 20 nationally in three statistical categories. Wenger returned to the all-region squad in 2015 and was also named the Freedom Conference Player of the Year. Wenger was also an all-region pick as a senior in 2017.

Altieri served as Frank Wolfgang's right-hand man from 1994 to 1999, and played a major role as the Aggies became a regional power. They set a school record for victories in three straight seasons, culminating with 31 wins in 1999. That team won the ECAC South Region Championship while the '98 squad captured the MAC Freedom regular-season title and reached the MAC championship game.

Altieri starred on the DelVal baseball diamond from 1989 to 1992 and was inducted into the school's Hall of Fame five years later. He was a four-time MAC-Northern Division all-star and team MVP, and posted numerous school records including an all-time batting average of .418 (since broken).

Altieri was recently a member of the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Region committee and the ECAC South Region championship committee. He also serves as the school's gymnasium equipment manager and was an assistant football coach for five years. Those five years saw the the team win two MAC championships, make three trips to the second round of the NCAA playoffs and win one ECAC South Atlantic Bowl.

Altieri graduated from DelVal with a bachelor of arts degree in business. His son Bobby was a member of the Aggie baseball team from 2014 to 2017.
