About Women's Basketball
1990 graduate and DelVal Hall of Famer Laura Hogan has been at the helm of the Aggies for the last 25 years. The team has qualified for the MAC Freedom playoffs in 11 times under Hogan, including its first-ever run to the conference championship game in 2002. DelVal has also been selected to the ECAC South Regional Championships on seven occasions under Hogan and captured the 2001 title to conclude a record-breaking 21-6 season.
Three of those MAC Freedom and ECAC playoff years have come over the last ten years. In 2013-14, DelVal won 15 games and reached the Freedom semifinals and the ECAC quarterfinals. In the Freedom semifinals, the Aggies led undefeated FDU-Florham in the closing minutes before the Devils rallied for the win. It was the latest in a game that FDU-Florham trailed all year as it went on to win the NCAA Division III Championship.
In 2014-15, DelVal hit the win column 13 times and made it back to the postseason. The Aggies met FDU-Florham again in the Freedom semifinals and lost to the eventual conference champion and NCAA quarterfinalist. DelVal was then picked for the ECAC playoffs where it fell at Lebanon Valley College in the quarterfinals. The next year, DelVal returned just one starter but finished third in the conference, earning another MAC Freedom semifinal berth. Despite falling again to FDU-Florham, Hogan was chosen the Coach of the Year. The Aggies were selected to the ECAC South Tournament once again, dropping a quarterfinal game at Marywood.
Hogan was a Hall of Fame player for the Aggies and earned Most Valuable Player honors from the old MAC-Northeast section in both 1989 and 1990. She played on the program's first ECAC title team in '89. She was recently inducted into the MAC Hall of Fame.
Hogan then coached a conference MVP in Alisa DiBonaventura who, in 2001, became the first DelVal basketball player - male or female - to be named an All-American. Kim Vennera was named the Freedom Conference Most Valuable Player for the 2009-10 season as she led the team to both the Freedom and ECAC postseason.
In 2015-16, Eireann Anastasi was chosen as the conference's Player of the Year and went on to be named to three different All-America teams. Anastasi was also a NCAA Division III Woman of the Year finalist.
