SAVANNAH, Ga. - In January, the DelVal Hunt Seat Team traveled to Savannah, Georgia, to compete in the Winter Tournament of Champions horse show hosted by Savannah College of Art and Design. The original show date was rescheduled due to a snowstorm along the East Coast but was moved to the following weekend with a few roster changes for the Aggies.
Despite the chilly weather, the team finished seventh overall among some of the top programs in the country. Savannah College of Art and Design claimed both first and second place, while Purdue finished third. University of Lynchburg, Skidmore College and Sewanee rounded out the top six.
Senior Grace Allen delivered a consistent weekend, earning third place finishes in both Open Flat and Open Fences. She also placed in the top eight on the flat in the High Medal class to qualify for the over-fences test and finished fifth overall.
In the Intermediate division, senior captain Sophia Frisbie made her Tournament debut with a fourth-place finish over fences, while sophomore Maggie Mitchell placed fifth on the flat. Mitchell also competed in the Low Medal class, advancing to the testing phase and finishing eighth overall.
Freshman Amelia Parsons competed in both Limit classes for the Aggies, earning a second-place finish over fences and fourth on the flat.
Sophomore Elsa Heacock and freshman Keira Larkin each added fourth-place finishes in the Novice and Intro divisions.
The Aggies are currently tied for third place with Purdue in the overall Tournament standings.
