Scansaroli Earns First Career Win in Sweep of Rosemont

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – Delaware Valley softball swept Rosemont College on Tuesday afternoon, fueled by a stellar performance from junior Angelina Bresnen, who went 5-for-5 with a walk, and Alyssa Scansaroli, who notched her first career win.

Game 1 | Delaware Valley 5 – Rosemont 2

Rosemont struck first, taking a 1-0 lead in the opening frame after Strohl reached on an error, stole second, and scored on a Dickinson double to right center. The run was unearned against Aggies' starting pitcher Scansaroli.

Delaware Valley responded in the bottom of the first when Kenzie Boyd doubled to center, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored on an Bresnen double to left, tying the game at 1-1.

The Ravens regained the lead in the second as Harrison doubled to left, bringing home Strohl to make it 2-1. However, Scansaroli and the DelVal defense settled in, retiring the side in order in the third and escaping a bases-loaded jam in the fourth when Scansaroli induced a popout to Tori Bockrath. She finished with 4.0 innings pitched, two strikeouts, and her first win of the season.

The Aggies took control in the fourth. Madison Donnelly and Yasmine Gonzalez both singled, setting up Jillian Collins, who doubled to center to bring home Donnelly. Sierra Ripka followed with a sacrifice fly, plating Gonzalez and giving DelVal its first lead of the day, 3-2.

The Aggies added two insurance runs in the fifth. Boyd singled up the middle and stole second before Bresnen mirrored her effort with a single and stolen base of her own. Amelia Funston then delivered a two-run single to right center, extending the lead to 5-2.

Rosemont threatened in the seventh, putting two runners on with no outs, but Madison Karns shut the door to secure her second save of the season.

Game 2 | Delaware Valley 12 – Rosemont 0

DelVal dominated Game 2 with an offensive explosion and a strong outing from Karns, who pitched a complete-game shutout (5.0 IP) for her sixth win of the season.

The Aggies took a 2-0 lead in the second inning when Bockrath, Karns, and Taylor Mazzoni all singled to load the bases. Collins then singled to score Bockrath, and Ripka grounded out but brought home Karns.

The third inning saw DelVal erupt for nine runs on eight hits. It began with a Donnelly double to left, followed by an RBI single from Karns. With the bases loaded, Ripka delivered a three-run triple to center, making it 8-0. After a Rosemont pitching change, Boyd walked before Bresnen ripped a two-run double to left. Bresnen later scored on a wild pitch, capping off the explosive inning at 11-0.

The Aggies added one final run in the fourth. Isabella Davis doubled to right center, stole third, and was driven in by a Kathleen McGeoy single to right, sealing the 12-0 victory.

With the sweep, Delaware Valley improves to 11-4 (0-2 MACF) and will return to action on Thursday, March 27, at Penn State Brandywine.
